Podcasting
Podcasting is a term derived from the words "iPod" and "broadcasting". It refers to a method of publishing media files
to the internet, allowing users to subscribe to a feed and receive new files automatically by subscription. Files can be
viewed or listened to from a computer workstation or downloaded to portable mp3 players. Faculty can borrow digital sound and video recorders from the
FCPE to tape lectures or any other class-related activities. The FCPE will publish individual recordings according to the
professors needs, via Moodle or online subscription.

Video Conferencing
The University has two large classrooms, Hagedorn 108 and 209, equipped with videoconferencing capability,
enabling the Garden City Campus to conduct live video conferences with the Manhattan and Hauppauge Centers
or on the Internet.
Video conferences can also be held with external sites. For example, the University has held real-time lectures
and tele-meetings with Houston, Iran, and Tokyo. To schedule such events, the FCPE needs to be
informed at least 2 weeks in advance to ensure sufficient testing and compatibility of the systems.
Please note that faculty must participate in training in order to use the video conference equipment. Adelphi's Videoconferencing Handbook (PDF) from OITR.

Video Streaming
Faculty may wish to incorporate audio and video files into their classes by distributing it via the web. The FCPE assists
in the digitizing process and administers content on the Adelphi streaming server. Students can access the material
from any computer with Internet access. A meeting with an FCPE staff member and the professor is required for every
digitizing project to discuss delivery method, security and copyright compliance for each multimedia file and each context of use.
Please allow at least 5 days for the content to be digitized and uploaded after the meeting.
